Jakarta, VIVA – The mystery surrounding the whereabouts of Jurist Tan, a fugitive in the alleged corruption case concerning Chromebook procurement at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, is beginning to unravel. The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has stated that it has tracked the position of the suspect, who remains on the run.

Although he has not yet been brought back to Indonesia, investigators are reportedly continuing to follow Jurist Tan’s movements while working to issue a red notice through Interpol.

Head of the Public Relations Centre for Legal Affairs at Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, revealed that the investigative team already knows Jurist Tan’s location. However, monitoring is still ongoing to ensure the next steps in enforcement.

“Investigators already know (his location),” said Anang, quoted on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Amid these pursuit efforts, the Adhyaksa Corps is also coordinating with the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Polri regarding the issuance of a red notice for Jurist Tan. Currently, the request is awaiting approval from Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France.

Nevertheless, Kejagung emphasised that it is not relying solely on the Interpol channel to hunt for Jurist Tan. Various other international cooperation avenues are said to have been explored to narrow the fugitive’s room for manoeuvre.

“We are not only relying on the Interpol channel but also coordinating with other parties that we can consider as partners,” he stated.

Previously reported, the International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of Polri claimed to have obtained the location of the former special staff (stafsus) to the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim—Jurist Tan—who is a suspect and fugitive in the alleged Chromebook corruption case.

Secretary of NCB Interpol Polri, Brigadier General Pol Untung Widyatmoko, said the issuance of a red notice for Jurist Tan is still being processed.

“Likewise, the Jurist Tan Chromebook case is also being processed, and insyaallah we already know where he is,” said Untung to reporters at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 22 September 2025.

When asked further about Jurist Tan’s current location, Untung declined to disclose details.

“We’ll update later,” he explained.
