Jimmy Lie, a fugitive wanted in connection with an alleged corruption and bribery case involving land certificate processing under Indonesia’s Systematic Land Registration programme (PTSL) in Tangerang Regency, has been arrested upon entry to Indonesia through Kualanamu International Airport in Medan.

The Metro Tangerang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, announced on Monday that Lie had been apprehended after being detected entering Indonesia through Kualanamu International Airport in Medan on 8 March 2026.

Lie had previously been placed on Indonesia’s Most Wanted list and an Interpol Red Notice had been issued for him. “Based on information from the National Police’s International Relations Division, suspect Jimmy Lie was secured at Kualanamu Airport on 8 March 2026. Our personnel immediately coordinated and proceeded to apprehend the suspect,” Jauhari stated.

The case originated in 2022 when suspect Hasbullah allegedly sought assistance from then Kalibaru Village Chief Sueb to upgrade the land status of property owned by Jimmy Lie through the PTSL programme. During this process, alleged bribery occurred to accelerate the processing of documents for the land status upgrade, which did not follow official mechanisms in accordance with PTSL technical guidelines.

Police revealed that a sum of Rp960 million (approximately USD61,000) was given to the village chief to facilitate the document processing. The case has since been prosecuted, involving multiple suspects. Four defendants have been tried at the Serang Corruption Court with the following sentences: Hasbullah received 2 years 9 months imprisonment, Sueb received 1 year 9 months, Iman Nugraha received 1 year 9 months, and Raden Febie Firmansyah received 1 year 9 months.

Lie had failed to respond to investigator summons and had left Indonesia during the prevention and restraint order proceedings. Police subsequently designated him as a wanted person and requested the issuance of a Red Notice through the International Relations Division.

Following his arrest, Lie will be brought by Metro Tangerang City Police investigators for transfer to the Public Prosecutor for the next stage of legal proceedings. “The suspect will be transferred to the Public Prosecutor for further legal action,” the Police Chief said.
