The flight of Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in the case of false imprisonment and sadistic abuse against YTR (29), ended with his arrest in Bandung, West Java. In addition to Karawang, Taufik Hidayat had briefly fled to the Tangerang area in Banten.

West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, confirmed that Taufik was arrested on Tuesday (23/6) at around 18.30 WIB in a housing complex. Taufik had been a fugitive after allegedly imprisoning and torturing his girlfriend for nearly three years in a rented room in Cileunyi, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

“Thanks to everyone’s prayers, at approximately 18.30 earlier in Ciparay, Ciparay District, in a housing estate called Griya Pesona, we finally managed to locate the suspect and immediately carried out the arrest,” said Inspector General Rudi Setiawan at the West Java Regional Police headquarters.

Based on preliminary investigations, Taufik had moved from place to place to evade police pursuit. He briefly left the West Java region for Tangerang. However, haunted by anxiety, the suspect decided to return to Bandung.

“He recounted his escape story; he had moved to Tangerang. He felt Tangerang was a safe place, but there he was also confused and felt unsafe, so he returned to West Java. We also asked him, and he said he felt afraid, suspicious of everyone, and did not know where to go, and finally ended up in Majalaya where he was caught,” Rudi revealed.

The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, previously stated that Taufik had moved around Greater Bandung and Karawang before finally being secured.
