Fugitive in Jakarta Arrested for Stealing Pertamina Iron Pipes Worth Rp2.3 Billion
The theft of vital state assets in the form of iron pipes belonging to PT Pertamina has been uncovered by the URC team of the Indramayu Police. A suspect who had fled to Jakarta was also successfully arrested.
The theft is known to have occurred in the Pertamina EP Field Jatibarang warehouse area, precisely on Jalan Raya Mundu, Kedokan Agung Village, Kedokan Bunder District, Indramayu Regency. As a result of the theft, the company suffered very substantial material losses.
Based on official calculations, the total loss reached 133,765.6 US dollars, or when converted at the Rupiah exchange rate in December 2025 (Rp 17,700 per US dollar), amounts to Rp 2,367,651,120 (two billion three hundred sixty-seven million six hundred fifty-one thousand one hundred twenty rupiah).
Indramayu Police Chief, AKBP Prianggo PM, through the Head of Criminal Investigation, AKP Muchammad Arwin Bahar, explained that his team has secured two suspects in the theft case. The two individuals are identified by the initials W alias K (39 years old) and N (60), both residents of Karangampel District, Indramayu Regency, West Java.
Arwin explained that the tracking of the suspects yielded results when the Indramayu Police URC team detected the whereabouts of suspect W alias K in the East Jakarta area. Without wasting time, officers immediately moved to conduct a raid and secure the individual on Monday (17/8/2026).
“After securing the individual with the initial W in East Jakarta, part of the Indramayu Police URC team that was in Indramayu also moved quickly to secure suspect N in the Karangampel District area on the same date,” said Arwin on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
Based on the results of the initial examination, both suspects admitted to their actions. For further legal proceedings, both have now been taken to the Indramayu Police Headquarters for in-depth questioning.
From preliminary confessions, the theft of the iron pipes is strongly suspected to have been carried out more than once. The suspects are believed to have repeatedly committed similar acts on different days involving a number of other parties.
During the arrest, police also seized a number of pieces of evidence for investigation purposes. The evidence secured includes two mobile phones and one wallet belonging to the suspects.
