Fuel Transport Aircraft Crashes into Mountain En Route from Tarakan to Krayan

Tanjung Selor — An aircraft carrying fuel supplies reportedly crashed in the East Krayan sub-district on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at around midday.

Confirming the incident, the Head of East Krayan Sub-district, Lianthoni, verified that an aircraft had indeed gone down but said he was not yet able to confirm the precise location.

“Yes, it is true — the fuel-transport aircraft crashed at around noon,” he said.

The aircraft had departed from Tarakan and was heading to Krayan in Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan.

According to circulating reports, the aircraft is believed to have crashed somewhere between Mount Pa’ Betung and Pa’ Remayo, though this has yet to be confirmed.

Lianthoni said that he and local residents were conducting a search and were currently in the forest.

“We are still searching for the crash site. We are still in the forest,” he said.
