Fuel Transport Aircraft Crashes in Nunukan, Believed Down Between Pa' Betung and Pa' Remayo Mountains

An aircraft transporting fuel from Tarakan to Krayan, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, reportedly crashed in the East Krayan subdistrict on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Confirming the incident, the East Krayan subdistrict head, Lianthoni, verified that an aircraft had indeed crashed, though he was unable to confirm the precise location.

“Yes, it’s true — the aircraft carrying fuel crashed at around midday,” he said when contacted via text message.

According to circulating reports, the aircraft is believed to have gone down between Pa’ Betung and Pa’ Remayo mountains, though this has yet to be confirmed.

He stated that a search was under way together with local residents and that teams were currently in the forest.

“We are still searching for the crash site. We are still in the forest,” he said briefly.
