Fuel Savings: Ministry of Immigration and Corrections Implements Work From Anywhere

The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) has implemented a Work From Anywhere (WFA) system to save on fuel consumption. Head of the Data, Information, and Communication Centre of Kemenimipas, M. Akbar Hadi Prabowo, confirmed in Jakarta on Friday (27/3) that WFA was enforced from 25 to 27 March 2026. “Kemenimipas has implemented Work From Anywhere (WFA) from 25 to 27 March 2026,” said Akbar. This WFA policy, he explained, is primarily applied at the central office level and in regions that do not provide direct public services, such as immigration service offices and correctional service offices (prisons, detention centres, and child welfare institutions). “Offices that deal directly with the public remain open as usual,” he stated. In particular for prisons and detention centres, he noted, during the Eid holidays, families of inmates are eagerly awaiting to visit their relatives serving sentences. He said that the continuation of the WFA policy for subsequent working days is still awaiting instructions from Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto. “We are currently awaiting instructions from the Minister regarding the WFA policy after 30 March 2026,” he stated. According to him, the WFA policy within Kemenimipas was discussed before the Eid holiday and agreed to be implemented from 25 to 27 March 2026. “This step is taken with the aim of reducing the burden on the state budget subsidy and significantly saving fuel consumption,” said Akbar. All Civil Servants (ASN) in the Batam City Government environment returned to work on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, after the 2026 Eid holiday. The Banjarbaru City Government does not implement WFA or WFH after the 1447 H Eid holiday. All ASN are required to be physically present. The Banyumas Regency Government in Central Java decided not to implement the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy as applied by the central government. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has officially implemented the WFA policy for ASN on 25-27 March 2026 in accordance with central directives. Although flexible, Pramono emphasised that this is not an additional holiday.
