Long queues of vehicles have been seen at a number of public filling stations (SPBU) in Medan and other areas of North Sumatra in recent days. The condition was triggered by disruptions to fuel distribution, compounded by increased public consumption after school and office activities returned to normal. To break up the queues, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has extended the operating hours of filling stations to 24 hours and deployed an additional 30 tanker trucks to accelerate fuel distribution across the region. Pertamina has stressed that fuel stocks are safe and that it is continuing efforts to normalise distribution gradually. The public has been urged to purchase fuel according to their needs so that the process of normalising supply and services at filling stations can proceed more quickly.
