Fuel Queues in Medan and Binjai Ease, BPH Migas Reports

The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has stated that vehicle queues at public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in Medan and Binjai, North Sumatra, have now cleared. BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas said efforts to restore fuel distribution in Medan and Binjai have yielded positive results. He noted that BPH Migas, together with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, continues to strengthen fuel supplies so that services to the public return to normal. Over the past two days, BPH Migas and Pertamina have directly monitored a number of SPBUs in Medan and Binjai. Vehicle queues have diminished and service conditions at the stations are increasingly improving. Wahyudi conveyed that the government is ensuring fuel distribution proceeds smoothly in the areas of public concern. “The results of monitoring at points that were locations of distribution vulnerability, alhamdulillah the queues have cleared and conditions have returned to normal,” Wahyudi said during an inspection of SPBU Medan Deli, Medan, North Sumatra, on Saturday. To maintain smooth distribution, fuel distribution is being reinforced through the addition of spot charter fleets and an increase in the volume of fuel supplies to SPBUs. This measure is taken to ensure stock is maintained and services to the public are not interrupted. “The public should remain calm. Pertamina Patra Niaga has moved quickly to maintain supply, and fuel supplies have also been increased to 120-125 percent,” he stated. Wahyudi said that throughout Friday and Saturday, BPH Migas and Pertamina conducted direct monitoring in several areas that had previously experienced queues at SPBUs. “We carried out monitoring at SPBUs from morning until afternoon and evening. On Friday night we also toured around. Physically and visually, conditions have indeed gradually returned to normal,” he explained. In Binjai, for example, the long queues that had previously occurred are no longer visible. Nevertheless, distribution strengthening continues until supplies are completely stable. “We also visited Binjai this morning, which had been a topic on social media. The queues that previously reached more than one kilometre are now gone. This means that fuel deliveries from Pertamina Patra Niaga have begun to strengthen and the public can be served under normal conditions,” he clarified.
