Fuel Prices Unchanged, DPR Member: Step to Maintain National Stability
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of DPR RI Commission V Hamka B Kady considers the government’s decision not to raise fuel (BBM) prices as the right step in maintaining national economic stability amid external pressures affecting the energy sector. “This policy is part of efforts to maintain national stability amid external pressures impacting the energy sector,” Hamka said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He also expressed appreciation for the government’s decision not to increase BBM prices, whether subsidised or non-subsidised, as of 1 April 2026. According to him, this policy demonstrates the government’s commitment to preserving public purchasing power while upholding national economic stability. He also urged the public to remain calm and avoid excessive fuel purchases that could lead to long queues at public fuelling stations (SPBU). “In a geopolitical situation triggering crises and energy price surges felt in several countries, President Prabowo Subianto has chosen not to raise national fuel prices. This is not an easy decision. We greatly appreciate it,” Hamka stated. Furthermore, Hamka appreciated the performance of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who continues to conduct regular evaluations of global energy price developments. That step, in his view, is important so that the policies taken remain pro-people, especially for vulnerable groups.
