The government, together with Pertamina, has assured that there will be no changes to the prices of Fuel Oil (BBM) from 1 April 2026. This policy is regarded as a strategic step to safeguard the purchasing power of the public amid ongoing fluctuations in global oil prices.

Through Pertamina Patra Niaga, the government continues to maintain BBM prices, both subsidised and non-subsidised, to provide certainty for the public and business actors. This price stability is expected to curb the rate of inflation and keep logistics costs under control.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, stated that the company is continuously implementing the government’s directives to maintain national energy stability, including in BBM pricing policies.

“We ensure that energy distribution runs smoothly and prices remain stable. This is part of our joint efforts to preserve public purchasing power amid global dynamics,” he said in his statement to Media Indonesia on Wednesday (1/4).

On the other hand, fluctuations in world oil prices remain a significant challenge for the energy sector. Nevertheless, the government has chosen to hold domestic BBM prices to provide economic protection for the public, especially during the ongoing economic recovery.

In addition to maintaining price stability, Pertamina Patra Niaga is also strengthening the energy distribution system across various regions. Coordination with suppliers and optimisation of distribution routes are continuously carried out to ensure that BBM supply remains available and accessible to the public.

Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, emphasised that BBM distribution in North Sumatra is running smoothly and continues to be optimised.

“Our distribution is carried out via land and sea routes with support from well-maintained BBM terminals. The public need not worry as energy needs remain fulfilled,” she explained.

Businesspeople in Batam have welcomed this policy positively. One entrepreneur in Batam, Rita Sibuea, assessed that BBM price stability provides certainty for the business world in maintaining operational cost efficiency.

“The decision to hold BBM prices is very helpful for business actors, especially in the logistics and manufacturing sectors. With stable energy costs, businesses can maintain selling prices and competitiveness amid global pressures,” she said.

In agreement, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) views this policy as providing room for the business world to remain expansive without being burdened by surges in distribution costs.

“BBM price stability is a key factor in maintaining supply chains. This directly impacts the smooth distribution of goods and inflation control,” said a representative from Kadin Kepri.

Nevertheless, businesspeople hope that this policy can be maintained consistently so that the business world has certainty in planning future business strategies.

The government and Pertamina also urge the public to remain calm and use BBM wisely according to needs. The public is asked not to be influenced by unclear information that could potentially trigger panic buying.

This policy of maintaining BBM prices is expected to safeguard national economic stability while supporting public and business activities across various sectors. Synergy between the government, business actors, and the public is key to maintaining national energy resilience amid global pressures.
