JAKARTA – The Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives, M Sarmuji, expressed appreciation to the government for its efforts to maintain the stability of fuel prices (BBM) amid increasing global pressures due to geopolitical conflicts.

This appreciation is specifically directed at the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, who is deemed successful in keeping fuel prices stable despite the surge in global energy prices.

According to Sarmuji, the current global situation is marked by high uncertainty, particularly due to the conflict between Iran and the United States (US) and Israel, which directly impacts energy prices.

He views the government’s decision to hold back fuel price increases, especially for subsidised fuels, as a strategic step amid increasingly complex external pressures.

Sarmuji also hopes that the ongoing geopolitical conflicts can soon subside so that pressure on global oil prices decreases and does not further burden the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

“May the conflicts end soon so that global oil prices stabilise again and do not continue to burden the APBN,” he said.

According to him, this policy influences inflation control and keeps logistics costs from rising significantly.

“Stability in fuel prices has a very significant domino effect on the national economy, particularly in keeping inflation under control and ensuring logistics costs do not spike sharply,” he stated.

In addition, the Golkar Party Faction encourages the government to continue strengthening risk mitigation strategies in the energy sector. Some highlighted steps include optimising national energy reserves, diversifying energy sources, and improving fuel distribution efficiency to ensure it reaches the right targets.

“Looking ahead, challenges in the energy sector will remain highly dynamic. Therefore, policy consistency and the speed of the government’s response are key. The Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives will continue to provide support as well as constructive oversight to ensure that national energy policies remain in the interests of the people,” said Sarmuji.
