Discussions about a potential fuel price increase on 1 April 2026 are gaining momentum. Amid surging global oil prices and escalating geopolitical tensions, the public is wondering whether today’s fuel prices will change soon. On the other hand, PT Pertamina (Persero) has addressed the widely circulated rumours on social media regarding the April 2026 fuel price hike. Economist from Airlangga University, Wisnu Wibowo, views the fuel price increase as a reasonable consequence. This is because the pricing of non-subsidised fuels follows global market mechanisms. According to him, the surge in global oil prices due to geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East is the main factor. Wisnu estimates that the fuel price rise on 1 April 2026 will not be too high. “The increase is estimated to be in the range of 5-10 percent,” he said. This means that although there is potential for a fuel price hike in April 2026, the figure is predicted to remain moderate. In the information circulating, it is stated that non-subsidised fuel prices will experience a fairly significant increase starting 1 April 2026. However, PT Pertamina (Persero) has emphasised that there has been no official decision regarding any price changes to date. It confirms that news of a significant fuel price surge per 1 April 2026 does not come from official sources. “The information on projections of fuel price increases that are circulating cannot be held accountable; to date, there has been no official announcement regarding prices for 1 April 2026,” said Baron, on Monday (30/03/2026).
