JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that there has been no specific policy regarding the potential increase in fuel oil prices. This stance was expressed amid global turmoil due to the conflict in the Middle East.

Non-subsidised fuel prices are estimated to rise by around 10 per cent starting from 1 April 2026. The increase follows the surge in global oil prices.

Dudy emphasised that the transportation sector is still operating normally. Fuel availability is deemed secure.

“So far, according to the explanation from the representative of the expert staff of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, everything related to fuel oil is secure,” said Dudy at the Ministry of Transportation on Monday (30/3/2026).

“So we must trust that and assure that, and then we carry out transportation activities as usual,” he continued.

“Up to now, there is none (specific policy). So if the ESDM side or Pertamina says that fuel oil stocks are secure, then it means they are secure,” he said.

The Ministry of Transportation remains prepared to conduct evaluations if the impact of the price increase feels significant. The evaluation focus includes operational costs and transportation fares.

“Of course, we will conduct studies and evaluations, whether under the current conditions the public still desires low fares,” he stated.

“But the global situation where things happen that we need to anticipate, so we will conduct exercises on various possibilities,” he added.

“That must also be anticipated, however, officially we must wait for what will be issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,” he stressed.
