Fuel Price Surge Leads Gojek to Officially Raise Fares from 10 April

The war between the United States (US) and Iran has caused global oil prices to skyrocket. This increase is impacting various industries, including ride-hailing services. A report from Channel News Asia (CNA) states that Gojek Singapore will raise service fees temporarily by 90 cents (approximately Rp 11,800) for all journey distances. The announcement was sent directly by Gojek via email to its customers last Friday. This policy will take effect from 10 April until 31 May 2026. However, not all services will see a price increase. GoTaxi fares will not rise and will continue to use the meter as usual, cited on Friday (3/4/2026). Gojek explained that 100% of the fee will be given to drivers. The company assures it is doing its best to keep transportation services reliable and affordable. The report does not specify whether other countries, such as Indonesia, will implement similar policies. In addition to Gojek, CNA reports that several other online transportation platforms are taking similar measures. Tada is increasing temporary additional fees by 40 cents (Rp 5,200). Grab also made price adjustments on 31 March. That platform is raising the fuel surcharge to 90 cents from 7 April to 31 May 2026, including an additional 40 cents on passenger fares. Strides Premier has announced a 1-cent increase in taxi fares per distance and time-based unit fares starting 30 March. Meanwhile, ComfortDelGro is also applying temporary driver fees.
