As a response to the threat of an oil and gas (LPG) supply crisis in Indonesia due to Iran’s partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz as a result of the war in the Gulf region, the Indonesian government has announced it will take several steps to anticipate the crisis. President Prabowo has instructed his apparatus to implement several programmes, including the 100 GW solar power plant (PLTS) programme, which involves replacing diesel power plants (PLTD) with PLTS and battery energy storage systems (BESS), converting 120 million internal combustion engine motorcycles to electric motorcycles, one day of work from home (WFH) per week, and accelerating the 50 per cent biofuel blending (B50) programme.
