Fuel Distribution in Medan Accelerated, Fleet and Personnel Boosted

PT Elnusa Petrofin (EPN) continues to strengthen its operational support for PT Pertamina Patra Niaga to accelerate the normalisation of fuel oil (BBM) distribution in Medan. The reinforcement involves adding fleets and personnel, accelerating technical support, controlling distribution times, and enhancing worker health and safety aspects. The company’s latest move is adding 18 tanker trucks through a spot charter scheme, complete with tanker truck crews (AMT). With this addition, the total fleet now operating reaches 194 units. Besides the fleet, Elnusa Petrofin is also bolstering human resources by increasing the number of auxiliary AMT to 42 personnel. Distribution operations are also supported by 20 auxiliary drivers from the Indonesian Army’s Supply and Transport unit (Bekang) to ensure safe and timely distribution. PT Elnusa Petrofin President Director Doni Indrawan stated that all these steps are part of the company’s commitment to supporting Pertamina Patra Niaga in restoring smooth fuel distribution in Medan. “We continue to strengthen from the upstream distribution process to fleet monitoring in the field. The addition of tanker trucks and personnel, intensive control of Round Trip Hours (RTH), and acceleration of fleet repairs are carried out so that each tanker truck can rotate faster and supplies to petrol stations become more optimal. We are committed to continuously supporting Pertamina Patra Niaga in accelerating the normalisation of fuel distribution for the people of Medan,” Doni said in a statement on Monday (20/7). In supporting the acceleration of distribution, the company is also tightening monitoring of tanker truck Round Trip Hours (RTH) through Road Traffic Control (RTC) together with the central team. Monitoring is conducted in real time to ensure the fleet returns to the depot immediately after delivery so it can be reused in the next distribution cycle. The monitoring focus includes tanker trucks estimated to arrive at petrol stations in less than one hour, fleets that have exceeded the standard RTH (over RTH), and vehicles projected to return to the depot in less than one hour. From a technical perspective, Elnusa Petrofin is also adding mechanics from the Brand Holder Sole Agent (ATPM) and strengthening spare parts availability. This effort is undertaken to speed up the repair process so the fleet remains in prime condition while supporting fuel distribution. Furthermore, amidst efforts to accelerate distribution normalisation, the company emphasises that personnel health and safety remain a top priority. Elnusa Petrofin implements continuous health monitoring, including through a Fatigue Management System to control the risk of fatigue among tanker truck crews. Through this system, drivers’ working hours and rest periods are strictly monitored to ensure each person has sufficient recovery time before returning to duty. This measure is expected to maintain travel safety while ensuring smooth fuel distribution. The company also provides support in the form of nutritious meals, supplements, additional vitamins, and optimises the use of rest areas as resting places for the tanker truck crews. In addition, a Medic On Call service is on standby to ensure personnel health conditions remain monitored during duty. “The health, fitness, and safety of all personnel on duty remain our primary concern. Arranging working hours and rest periods, monitoring the condition of tanker truck crews, as well as providing additional meals, vitamins, pit stops, and rest areas are part of our efforts to ensure reliable operations without neglecting worker safety,” he said. Elnusa Petrofin stated it continues to coordinate with Pertamina Patra Niaga, relevant authorities, and petrol station managers to evaluate operational needs in the field. Distribution and personnel condition monitoring will continue until the fuel supply in Medan City returns to stability and public needs are optimally met.
