Fuel cash aid
Fuel cash aid
From Gatra
It has been days since the government started distributing cash to the poor to help offset the effects of higher fuel prices. As expected, there have been some problems. A number officials from the Central Statistics Agency were reported to have abused their positions by siphoning off the aid meant for the poor. In addition, it turns out many of the recipients were not really poor.
In my opinion the government's policy of giving money to the poor is not effective. There must be a better way to help the poor deal with the fuel price hike. Cash aid should not go to those poor people who are actually lazy or who are not serious about managing their lives, or do not have any plans for their future.
Instead, the aid must be given to those who cannot afford to send their children to school. Untold numbers of children fail to get a proper education simply because they come from poor families. Needless to say, the state needs competent human resources to help in the nation's development. Consequently, sufficient funds must be allocated for education, which in turn would ease the burden on the poor.
As we all know, our country is listed as one of the most corrupt in the world. Therefore extra supervision is necessary to guarantee the proper distribution of the aid and to eliminate leakage in the process of channeling this aid.
