Frustrated to the Core, Prabowo Declares War on Corruption and Collusion
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has underscored the importance of combating corruption and various abuses of authority that cause state financial leakage. Prabowo also highlighted the role of ‘unscrupulous businesspeople’ in causing harm to the nation.
This statement was made during the virtual inauguration of 218 bailey, armco, and pioneer bridges across Indonesia on Monday (9 February 2026).
Prabowo acknowledged that the government is not blind to the various difficulties the nation will face due to conflict-ridden situations in various regions, including the Middle East. He also stressed that the government will address these issues transparently and will not hide behind existing systems.
On this occasion, Prabowo stated that Indonesia possesses abundant wealth that must be managed properly to benefit the people. To this end, he specifically highlighted the practices of corruption, abuse of authority, and collusion with unscrupulous businesspeople, which he assessed as sources of state financial leakage.
“For this reason, I reaffirm that we must combat corruption at every level. Corruption, abuse of authority, fraud, collusion with unscrupulous businesspeople,” Prabowo stated firmly in his remarks.
“This is what causes state leakage. This is what results in the loss of much of our wealth. Wealth that we could use to face any disaster,” he added.
Prabowo explained that this leakage prevents state finances from being utilised optimally to address various challenges such as disasters and the impacts of war occurring in the Middle East.
“Due to war in the Middle East, we must be prepared to face difficulties. But again, we are grateful that the Indonesian nation actually possesses strength, we have great strength,” he said.
