Frost Hansen to coach Malaysia
JAKARTA (JP): Former top shuttler Morten Frost Hansen of Denmark is to coach Malaysia, replacing Razif Sidek, who retired in September.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia's chairman, Dr. Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan, said in Kuala Lumpur Sunday that Hansen, who is still coaching Denmark, has confirmed he has agreed to coach Malaysia.
Hansen, the 1984 All England champion, ends his contract with the Denmark badminton association on Jan. 1, 1997.
Fadzil said that all the association's Chinese coaches, except the 1985 World Champion Han Jian, have retired. The association has 13 local coaches who will help Hansen.
Antara reported that the association's secretary-general, Punch Gunalan, who asked to retire, will stay in his position until next year. (yan)
