From TKD to River Normalisation: West Sumatra Seeks Central Government Support for Post-Disaster Recovery

Gubernur Mahyeldi has sent a letter to the Minister of Home Affairs requesting that the Special Allocation Fund (TKD) for 2027 be spared from efficiency cuts, citing the substantial need for rehabilitation. The letter was submitted through Special Staff member Kastorius Sinaga. Meanwhile, the Padang City Government is seeking clarity on the authority for dredging river sedimentation. Batang Kuranji and Batang Air Dingin fall under the authority of the Sumatera V River Basin Agency (BWS), which is under the central government. In contrast, Sungai Pasie Lalang, Sungai Guo, and Batang Balimbing are under the authority of the Padang City Government. It is estimated that the sedimentation in these five locations reaches two million cubic metres.
