From the Skies of Jordan, Prabowo and F16 Pilot Exchange Ramadan Greetings
AMMAN, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto exchanged Ramadan greetings with the pilot of the F16 fighter jet that escorted his aircraft upon entering Jordanian airspace on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026.
The honour escort was provided by two F16 fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
Initially, the F16 pilot conveyed greetings directly from the air. Through radio communication from the cockpit, the pilot delivered a message of honour.
“Your Excellency, Mr. President, Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. This is Lion One speaking. Your Excellency, on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, we are honoured to welcome you to Jordanian airspace,” said the pilot, addressing President Prabowo.
“It is a great honour to escort your flight this evening. We hope you enjoy your visit and have a safe landing. Ramadan Mubarak, Sir,” said the pilot.
In response to the greeting, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him.
The Head of State warmly replied, expressing his thanks to King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan for the friendly welcome.
“Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Lion Flight, Indonesia One. This is President Prabowo Subianto from Indonesia,” Prabowo said, introducing himself.
Prabowo said he was happy to be back in Amman, Jordan. Prabowo also wished the pilot Ramadan Mubarak.
“And please convey to your commander and His Majesty the King how happy I am to be back in Amman, Jordan. Thank you very much, Lion Flight. This is Indonesia One. Once again, Ramadan Mubarak. May you all be blessed in this holy month. Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,” said President Prabowo.
For information, the air escort was not just a state security procedure, but a symbol of high honour from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Head of State of Indonesia.
This visit marks President Prabowo’s second visit to Jordan.
This visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries, which has long been strong in cooperation in education, religion, regional issues in the Middle East, and support for the Palestinian cause.
