On behalf of the "student and people movement toward a New Indonesia", I hereby express my great thanks for the publication of our series of messages. The messages were born as a result of the students' struggle to enforce and safeguard the agenda of total reform, that has been treated like a game by government politicians and military leaders.

We dedicate the program to the struggle of the students whose purity -- we trust -- will lead to a New Indonesia.

With the publication of our messages we believe that the press, in the middle of commercialism, has not lost its idealism and has created a synergy with many elements with similar wishes.

With very limited resources, the program has succeeded because we are convinced that the silent majority of Indonesians want change, and the students are the avant-garde in that struggle.

We also trust that the media are an effective means to convey our messages to the community because the other side, the regime of the status quo, with unlimited means due to collusion, corruption and nepotism during its 33 years, uses whatever media to influence and to twist facts about the students' struggle.

Thank you again. You are the future of Indonesia's democracy, in line with your new slogan "The Flame of Indonesia's Democracy". You have also lit a candle in the darkness. Your readers, plus the 35 democratic elements in the community, support the program.
