Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, has confirmed that Russia will supply oil to Indonesia up to 150 million barrels, as per the agreement reached between President Prabowo Subianto and President Vladimir Putin during the previous visit to Russia.

He stated that the import of this oil supply will help meet the national energy needs until the end of 2026.

“It has been agreed that the total import from Russia will be around 150 million barrels to meet our needs until the end of the year,” said Yuliot at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jakarta on Friday, 24 April 2026.

“So, this is just the commitment from the discussions during the President’s and the Minister’s visit to Russia,” he added.

Regarding the delivery volume scheme, Yuliot explained that the oil supply will be sent in stages.

“The scheme cannot be all at once, because if it were all at once, we would need oil storage in the country. Therefore, the imports will be carried out gradually,” said Yuliot.

On the delivery timeline, he mentioned that the government is still preparing the regulations and the routes. There are two options: either through state-owned enterprises (BUMN) or using the Public Service Agency (BLU) mechanism.

“So these two options are being discussed and we are preparing the regulatory framework in the ministries/institutions,” said Yuliot.

“Because if through BUMN, there are consequences, and also if through BLU, what facilities are included, such as financing,” Yuliot added.

“Furthermore, with business entities, this includes how the import routes will be used,” he stated.
