In a corner of a church in West Jakarta, the Easter atmosphere felt different. Not only because of the prayers offered, but also due to the presence of direct care reaching out to the congregation. Amid the simplicity of worship, hundreds of food aid packages were distributed, bringing small hopes into lives that are not always easy.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was present at Santo Andreas Church in Kedoya, Kebon Jeruk, to distribute aid to the parishioners. However, what made this moment feel more profound was not just the aid given, but the story behind it.

AHY stated that the aid came in part from the proceeds of auctioning a painting by his father, Indonesia’s 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. An artwork titled “Kuda Api”, which not only holds aesthetic value but also serves as a bridge of compassion.

There is something warm about that flow, from a father’s hand that painted, then auctioned, until it finally transforms into aid received directly by the community. Art that is usually enjoyed visually now turns into real benefits that can be felt.

For some parishioners, the aid might seem simple. But behind the food packages taken home, there is a sense of being cared for. A feeling that amid economic difficulties, there are still helping hands extended.

One parishioner was seen smiling as she received the aid. She did not say much, just nodded slowly. But from her gaze, gratitude was implied that is hard to express in words.

For AHY, this activity is not merely a ceremonial agenda. He emphasised that presence in social activities is part of efforts to continue being a solution for the community. That compassion must not stop at discourse, but must be present in real actions.

The Easter moment adds its own meaning. A celebration of sacrifice, love, and hope, now translated into real aid for those in need. Those values seem to come alive in the simple actions carried out that day.
