PP Tunas or Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection has been in effect since Saturday (28/3/2026). PP Tunas requires digital platforms or social media to deactivate accounts of users aged under 16 years. From Roblox to TikTok, several platforms and social media sites are now restricted for children under 16 as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen child protection on the internet while curbing exposure to risky content. These platforms are asked to adjust their policies, ranging from age restrictions to deactivating accounts of users under 16. The four platforms in question are X/Twitter, Bigo Live, TikTok, and Roblox. Meanwhile, only two applications have been fully cooperative in implementing PP Tunas, namely X and Bigo Live. “We appreciate the platforms that have taken a fully cooperative stance in fulfilling compliance obligations, namely X and Bigo Live,” said Meutya during a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Digital office on Friday (27/03/2026).
