The Indonesian Community Sports Committee (Kormi) of DKI Jakarta has begun strengthening its strategic steps towards the 2027 National Community Sports Festival (Fornas) to be held in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The preparations were discussed during the 2026 Working Meeting held in North Jakarta on Friday (19/6/2026), with a primary focus on organisational strengthening and expanding community sports participation. The meeting adopted the theme ‘Kormi Maju, Masyarakat Sehat, Indonesia Hebat’ (Kormi Advances, Healthy Society, Great Indonesia) as a commitment to making community sports part of a healthy lifestyle for urban residents. The event was opened by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency, Andri Yansyah, and attended by Kormi administrators, administrative city Kormi branches, and various parent sports organisations. Kormi DKI Jakarta Chairwoman Diana Dewi asserted that community sports have now evolved into an essential need, not merely a recreational activity. According to her, an actively moving society forms the main foundation for building a healthy and productive city. ‘Community sports today are no longer a side activity but have become a necessity. A progressive city is one whose citizens are healthy, active, and happy,’ Diana said. She added that the 2026 Working Meeting is an important momentum to strengthen the consolidation of all Kormi elements in facing Fornas 2027. She noted that thorough preparation is necessary for Jakarta to perform optimally at the national-level community sports event. ‘Achievement is not born instantly. It is formed through a long process, discipline, and consistency in coaching,’ she stressed. Beyond organisational strengthening, Kormi DKI Jakarta is encouraging the expansion of a community sports ecosystem encompassing health sports, traditional sports, adventure sports, and culture-based sports. This effort is expected to increase public participation from various layers of society. On the same occasion, Kormi DKI Jakarta also presented a speaker from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to socialise the National Achievement Centre programme. This socialisation opens opportunities for community sports activists to understand the pathways for coaching and achievement development at the national level. Diana affirmed that the support of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government provides an important impetus in expanding the community sports movement. She hopes Kormi can become the driving force for a healthy lifestyle in the capital. ‘If Jakarta wants to become a global city, its citizens must be globally healthy. A great city is built by a healthy and active society,’ Diana said. Through this 2026 Working Meeting, she added, Kormi DKI Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cross-sector collaboration, expanding community participation, and building a sustainable sports ecosystem. ‘With the spirit of Healthy Society, Great Indonesia, Fornas 2027 is targeted to become a momentum for strengthening a healthy living culture in Indonesia,’ Diana concluded.
