From One Sacrifice to Abundant Benefits: Dompet Dhuafa Launches Innovations for Qurban
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Dompet Dhuafa consistently uses the occasion of Eid al-Adha to spread widespread blessings. This includes distributing sacrificial meat to remote areas, strengthening local livestock economies, and providing spiritual rewards for donors by making the act of Qurban a valuable asset for the afterlife. This year, Dompet Dhuafa has introduced various innovations to facilitate the public in performing Qurban. These include camel and giant cattle options through the Kurban Express programme, as well as overseas Qurban services, particularly for conflict-affected nations such as Palestine. Moreover, Dompet Dhuafa has established a meat canning factory in Egypt, demonstrating its commitment to bringing the joy of Qurban to communities across Indonesia and abroad. “This is part of Dompet Dhuafa’s support for Palestine. As humanitarian aid restrictions tighten, we have joined the Global Sumud Flotilla mission. The essence of Qurban is sacrifice—exchanging what we possess, including our wealth, for love of Allah SWT. This Qurban season, we must strengthen our collective sacrifice, much like the Global Sumud Flotilla activists who have sacrificed themselves for humanity, a testament to their love for Allah SWT,” said Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation. Dompet Dhuafa volunteer Muhammad Zahron, recently returned from Egypt, has prepared Qurban programmes for Palestine alongside other humanitarian aid distributions. “We went directly to Egypt to prepare aid for Gaza via Rafah. Regarding Qurban, we extended the distribution period for Palestine by choosing canning as one of the methods. This allows Palestinian communities to enjoy the sacrificial meat for longer,” he said. Dompet Dhuafa has introduced various options for donors, including Kurban Express selling giant cattle weighing over one tonne. This year, the organisation aims to distribute 43,000 Qurban animals equivalent to sheep or goats. Dompet Dhuafa has two primary distribution criteria this Qurban season: rural areas within Indonesia and conflict-affected countries. Aceh and Sumatra are prioritised due to last year’s disasters. “Sales of Qurban animals for Aceh and North Sumatra have already sold out, while West Sumatra is nearly depleted. We are also offering super-sized or giant sacrificial animals, which are among the best options available to donors,” said Ali Bastoni, Dompet Dhuafa’s Qurban head for 1447H. For those wishing to perform Qurban, Dompet Dhuafa offers multiple payment channels, including counters, bank transfers, e-commerce platforms, and its dedicated mobile application.
