Timika, Central Papua (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka departed for Timika, Mimika Regency, Central Papua, to continue his working visit in Papua, after completing a series of agendas in Nabire on Monday.

After taking off from Douw Aturure Airport in Nabire, Central Papua, and travelling for over half an hour, Vice President Gibran, accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, and their entourages, arrived at Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika on Monday afternoon.

Upon descending the aircraft steps, the Vice President, wearing a cassowary crown and a noken bag, was greeted by a traditional dance performed by young Papuan males accompanied by tifa musical instruments.

Gibran then proceeded to visit Toko Meriah and shopped for dozens of children, buying writing supplies, school uniforms, and toys available at the store.

“There are those who want to get uniforms, Ma’am, over there. Please help the children,” said the Vice President to one of his aides.

Based on information gathered, Vice President Gibran is scheduled to continue his second-day visit in Papua on Tuesday (21/4) by visiting the Mimika Education Centre and the Mimika Command Centre at the Mimika Regency Office.

Subsequently, the Vice President is also scheduled to head to Sorong, Southwest Papua, on the same day to inspect the Fish Market.

For information, the Vice President began his three-day working visit in Papua by inspecting the development of Douw Aturure Airport in Nabire, Central Papua, which can now be landed on by Boeing aircraft.

The Vice President then inspected the Niaga Dock at Nabire Port in Teluk Kimi District, Nabire Regency, to ensure the port infrastructure’s readiness in supporting smooth logistics distribution in Central Papua.

The series of Vice President’s activities in Nabire concluded with an inspection of the Civil Servant Apartment Complex in the Central Papua Provincial Government Centre area, located in Wanggar District, Nabire Regency, to ensure the quality of housing infrastructure for civil servants in eastern Indonesia.
