From Lebak, Deputy Minister Fajar Emphasises Pancasila Spirit and Social Justice
Rangkasbitung — Deputy Minister for Basic and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq has chosen Lebak Regency in Banten as the venue for the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration. On Monday (1/6/2026), Deputy Minister Fajar served as parade inspector in Rangkasbitung, accompanied by Lebak Regent Mochamad Hasbi Asyidiki Jayabaya, local government officials, and regional security and leadership figures. Following the ceremony, Fajar explained that Lebak’s selection carries strong historical significance tied to Pancasila’s core values. He noted the region’s legacy of human rights and justice struggles that align with Indonesia’s national ideals. “I chose Lebak because of its historical meaning and close connection to Pancasila’s spirit, particularly the second and fifth principles,” he said after serving as parade inspector on Monday (1/6/2026). Fajar explained that Lebak is associated with Multatuli through his seminal work, Max Havelaar. The struggle ideas presented in the book inspired many national figures to combat colonialism and fight for justice. “I believe Multatuli’s legacy directly relates to Pancasila’s principles, especially the second principle of just and civilised humanity and the fifth on social justice for all Indonesians. Therefore, commemorating Pancasila Day in Lebak holds strong symbolic meaning,” he added. “I want to reaffirm President Prabowo Subianto’s government’s commitment to realising the fifth principle through broader national policies that prioritise the people,” Fajar told media in Lebak. The day before the ceremony, Fajar visited a Sekolah Rakyat, a government priority programme. He described it as a tangible translation of Pancasila’s values, particularly in delivering social justice in education. He praised Regent Hasbi’s support for the Sekolah Rakyat initiative in Lebak Regency, stating it reflects the local government’s dedication to providing fairer access to education for vulnerable and low-income communities. According to Fajar, the government’s presence must be felt by citizens across all sectors, including education. Despite significant challenges, he said the government continues to promote equitable access through initiatives such as Sekolah Rakyat, free nutritious meals, and inclusive education policies.
