From Fertiliser to Village Clinic, KDMP Tamanmartani Proves Cooperatives Can Boost Residents' Welfare
The Tamanmartani Village Cooperative (KDMP) in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, is demonstrating the role of cooperatives not only as economic institutions but also as providers of public services for the village community. Thanks to revolving fund support from the LPDB, the cooperative has successfully developed various productive business units whose benefits are directly felt by members and local residents. Under the leadership of KDMP Tamanmartani Chairman Mawardi, the cooperative, which was established in 2025, now has 1,118 members. Several strategic business units have been developed, ranging from agricultural production facilities (saprotan), grocery stores, and fisheries to health clinic services. According to Mawardi, all these business units were built to answer the community’s needs while strengthening the village’s economic independence. ‘We want the cooperative to be present as a solution for the community. Not only in the economic aspect, but also for the basic services needed by villagers,’ said Mawardi. One of KDMP Tamanmartani’s flagship business units is the distribution of subsidised fertiliser for farmer groups. The cooperative is trusted to be a distributor of subsidised fertiliser with a volume of around 400 tonnes per year according to the Definitive Plan for Group Needs (RDKK). In the last six months, the cooperative has distributed more than 200 tonnes of fertiliser to farmer groups in the Tamanmartani area. In addition to subsidised fertiliser, the cooperative also provides seeds, pesticides, and various other agricultural production needs. Going forward, KDMP Tamanmartani is targeting the development of an integrated agricultural ecosystem, starting from the provision of production facilities, cultivation assistance, to the absorption of farmers’ harvests. ‘Farmers now find it easier to obtain fertiliser and other agricultural needs in a timely and targeted manner. We want the cooperative to be part of the solution to increase farmers’ productivity and welfare,’ said Mawardi. Not only active in the agricultural sector, KDMP Tamanmartani has also developed health services through a professionally managed clinic. The clinic has obtained an operational permit from the Health Office and provides various services, such as General Practice, Dental Practice, Maternal and Child Health (KIA) services, and pharmaceutical services.
