The development of nature-based initiatives that combine environmental restoration, economic activity, education, and community engagement has drawn the attention of the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH), Moh Jumhur Hidayat, during his visit to Dusun Bambu, West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (29/9).

During the visit, Jumhur emphasised that the government is serious about promoting ecotourism as an economic activity that simultaneously honours the environment. He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and the business sector in utilising biodiversity, while ensuring that activities comply with regulations and maintain environmental sustainability.

“Dusun Bambu can serve as an example of how land utilisation can proceed alongside environmental restoration. An area that was once arid and prone to erosion has now become lush following tree-planting efforts. This is an example of an enterprise building a circular economy while honouring the environment,” Jumhur stated in a written release on Friday (2/10/2026).

For EIGER Nature, this perspective is highly relevant to the project currently being developed in Megamendung, Bogor. Both Dusun Bambu and EIGER Nature are initiatives born from the vision of Ronny Lukito to create spaces that bring humans closer to nature while providing benefits to the environment and local communities.

“As a brand born in West Java, we want to contribute through ecotourism, which is a nature-based initiative that integrates restoration and conservation efforts, environmental education, and community empowerment. Following Dusun Bambu, the next initiative is E_IGER Nature in Megamendung, Bogor,” said the Chairman of EIGER Nature, Ronny Lukito.

Ronny hopes that the presence of EIGER Nature can increase the awareness of the younger generation towards nature and encourage them to learn from field experiences.

“I hope the younger generation can become closer to and interact more with nature, and learn from it. Because as we become more familiar with nature, we will better understand the importance of protecting and caring for it,” he continued.

This spirit is central to the development direction of EIGER Nature in Megamendung, Bogor, which has undertaken the restoration of critical land within the PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) I Regional 2 area, as well as supporting conservation efforts in the Utilisation Zone of the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP). Since 2021, this programme has planted more than 120,000 trees and shrubs, as well as over 8 million groundcover plants.

The journey from Dusun Bambu to EIGER Nature carries a similar spirit: presenting nature-based initiatives that do not merely offer experiences, but also make a tangible contribution to environmental recovery, education, and local community empowerment.
