From Caregivers to Security Guard, 14 New Little Aresha Suspects to Be Questioned Today
A total of 14 people have been named as new suspects in the child abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare centre. The 14 suspects, comprising caregivers and a security guard, are scheduled to be questioned on Monday (6/7).
“The 14 individuals consist of ten caregivers, two administrators, one security guard, and one household staff member,” revealed Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Commissioner Risky Adrian, when contacted on Sunday (5/7/2026).
Adrian added that the suspects’ questioning has been scheduled for today, Monday (6/7). “The summons for the 14 individuals as suspects has been scheduled for Monday,” he stated.
When asked about the criminal elements committed by these 14 new suspects, Adrian was reluctant to provide details, citing the need for further investigation. “What I mean is, I can disclose that (the suspects’ roles) later on Monday. These individuals have not yet been questioned as suspects. I am concerned about overstepping the investigation process,” he said.
Adrian explained that the naming of the 14 suspects was carried out following a case review on Thursday (2/7). It was from this case review that criminal elements committed by the 14 individuals were identified.
The 14 new suspects were among 17 witnesses previously subjected to mandatory reporting. For the remaining three individuals, investigators have not yet found any criminal elements in their actions. “From the case review, the participants were convinced that of the 17 individuals, only 14 committed criminal acts. So, we see there are criminal acts for which these 14 individuals must be held accountable,” Adrian elaborated. “For the other three, we have not yet found criminal elements in their actions. Their position is within the foundation. The three are indeed based at the kindergarten, the kindergarten located at the front,” he added.
As previously reported, with the naming of these 14 new suspects, the total number of suspects in the child abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare centre now stands at 27.
53 Children Identified as Victims
Yogyakarta Police have revealed the horrific treatment inflicted by caregivers on children entrusted to the Little Aresha daycare centre. Children were tied up from the moment they arrived at the daycare and were only released when their parents came to pick them up.
Yogyakarta Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Eva Guna Pandia, stated that the children received inhumane treatment from the caregivers. Without going into exhaustive detail, she disclosed some of the caregivers’ actions. “This inhumane treatment includes placing them in an overloaded room with very minimal air circulation. They were tied using cloth fashioned into ropes, and tied to the door,” Pandia said during a press conference at the Yogyakarta Police Headquarters on Monday (27/4).
Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Commissioner Riski Adrian, added that according to data obtained, 103 children were registered at the Little Aresha daycare. However, based on preliminary investigations, only 53 children have so far been declared victims. “We looked at the data from the foundation, the data for this academic year. The number of confirmed victims is still 53 children,” Adrian explained.
