From Campus to Industry: FutureFin Competition Drives Student Innovation for Indonesian Fintech
PT Pembiayaan Digital Indonesia (AdaKami), together with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, has announced the winners of the FutureFin student scientific writing competition.
The event is part of AdaKami’s Tech for Indonesia initiative, which provides opportunities for UNS students to present innovative ideas related to online lending (pindar) or fintech lending that is safe, responsible, and impactful for society.
The competition also reflects efforts to encourage the involvement of young talent in the development of fintech innovation in Indonesia.
The topics raised by the finalists were diverse, ranging from credit risk to the utilisation of financial technology in supporting better financing systems.
From the 10 finalists, three works were ultimately designated as winners. First place was achieved by Oryza Sativa Heavenia and Piero Muharoja Anantra with their work titled Detection of First-Party Fraud in Digital Lending Using a Proxy Income Estimation Approach and Multi-Source Behavioural Data.
Second place was taken by Zahra Syakira Nabilla with her work Development of a Hybrid Neural XGBoost-Based Credit Scoring System with Explainable AI for Predicting Default Risk on Peer-to-Peer Lending Platforms.
Meanwhile, third place was won by Jonnathan Azarel Gunawan and Raihan Ade Alfattah through their work Optimisation of Customer Credit Limits through Integration of XGBoost and LightGBM with SHAP Module.
Valentina expressed congratulations to all the winners and gave the highest appreciation to all the students who participated.
“The enthusiasm and quality of ideas demonstrated are proof that Indonesian young talent has great potential to bring impactful innovations for the future of this industry,” she said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Appreciation also came from the campus side. Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UNS, Prof Bhimo Rizky Samudro, stated that the competition is the culmination of a series of collaborations between AdaKami and UNS, which over the past few months have focused on developing young talent in the fintech field.
The process included selection, mentoring, and idea development.
Bhimo explained that the students demonstrated dedication, creativity, and critical thinking skills during the competition. According to him, FutureFin serves as a platform that not only sharpens abilities but also bridges the needs of the academic world with industry.
He also thanked AdaKami for the collaboration with FEB UNS, particularly the S1 Digital Business Study Programme.
