From Bung Karno to the Present: Said Abdullah on Trisakti
PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and several party figures made a pilgrimage to the grave of Bung Karno in Blitar, East Java. The event was held as part of the Bung Karno Haul and the June commemoration of Bung Karno Month. Chairman of PDIP East Java, Said Abdullah, stated that the values of Bung Karno which remain relevant today are Trisakti. One current example is food resilience and self-sufficiency. “The values of Bung Karno, as we have internalised daily, are Bung Karno’s Trisakti, which is still very relevant today. And that is being carried out by our President, namely food resilience and self-sufficiency,” Said said when met at Bung Karno’s grave in Blitar on Sunday (14/6/2026). “Food self-sufficiency is an inseparable part of Bung Karno’s desire, dream, and vision in Trisakti. It is very relevant for all time,” added the Chairman of the House Budget Committee. Quoting from the book ‘Maulwi Saelan Penjaga Terakhir Soekarno’ by Asvi Warman Adam, the Trisakti concept is described as a nation that is sovereign in politics, self-reliant in the economy, and has a distinct personality in culture. After the pilgrimage, Said also conveyed the hopes and prayers of the 5th President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, for Indonesia to become an independent and prosperous nation. “That this nation be prosperous, that this nation be self-reliant, that is what was conveyed in her prayer,” Said said. The pilgrimage to Bung Karno’s grave was attended by PDIP Central Executive Board Head of Ideology and Cadre Development, Djarot Saiful Hidayat; PDIP Secretary General, Hasto Kristiyanto; PDIP Central Executive Board Head of SMEs, Creative Economy, and Digital Economy, Prananda Prabowo; Mayor of Blitar, Syauqul Muhibbin; Deputy Mayor of Blitar, Elim Tyu Samba; Blitar Regent, Rijanto; and PDIP cadres at the branch level.
