From Bung Karno to the Present: Said Abdullah on Trisakti
The Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, along with several other PDIP figures, paid a pilgrimage to the grave of Bung Karno in Blitar, East Java. This agenda was organised as part of the series of events for the Haul of Bung Karno and the commemoration of Bung Karno Month in June.
The Chairperson of the PDIP East Java Regional Leadership Council (DPD), Said Abdullah, expressed that the values of Bung Karno that remain relevant today are the ‘Trisakti’ principles. One current example is the issue of food security and self-sufficiency.
“The values of Bung Karno, which we encounter every day, are indeed Bung Karno’s Trisakti, which remains very relevant until now. This is being implemented by our President, namely food security and self-sufficiency,” said Said when met at the Bung Karno Grave, Blitar on Sunday (14/06/2026).
“Food self-sufficiency is an inseparable part of Bung Karno’s desire, dream, and vision within the Trisakti. It will remain relevant forever,” added the Chairperson of the DPR RI Budget Committee.
Quoting from the book ‘Maulwi Saelan: The Last Guardian of Soekarno’ written by Asvi Warman Adam, the Trisakti concept refers to a nation that is sovereign in politics, self-reliant (berdikari) in economy, and possesses a distinct identity in culture.
Following the pilgrimage, Said also shared the hopes and prayers of the 5th President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, for Indonesia to become an independent and prosperous nation.
“That this nation is prosperous and self-reliant, that is what was conveyed in her prayers,” said Said.
The pilgrimage to Bung Karno’s grave was attended by the Chairperson of Ideology and Cadreisation for the PDIP Central Leadership Council, Djarot Saiful Hidayat; PDIP Secretary-General, Hasto Kristiyanto; Chairperson of PDIP DPP for MSMEs, Creative Economy, and Digital Economy, Prananda Prabowo; the Mayor of Blitar, Syauqul Muhibbin; the Deputy Mayor of Blitar, Elim Tyu Samba; as well as the Regent of Blitar, Rijanto, and PDIP cadres at the DPC level.
