From 1 June, Sudirman-Thamrin CFD to Take Place from 05:30 to 10:00 WIB

The Jakarta Provincial Government will change the implementation time of the Motor Vehicle-Free Day (HBKB) or Car Free Day (CFD) along Sudirman-Thamrin in Central Jakarta. Previously starting at 06:00 WIB, the vehicle-free activity will now begin earlier, from 05:30 WIB to 10:00 WIB. “I am planning for the Sudirman-Thamrin Car Free Day to start at 5:30 on 1 June (2026),” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung when met at the Jakarta Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) Building in East Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026). Currently, the Rasuna Said area is being tidied up and repaired. The abandoned monorail pillars are being fixed, while the roads in that area are also being widened. According to Pramono, the addition of the CFD location in Rasuna Said is intended to give residents alternative places to exercise besides the always crowded MH Thamrin area during CFD. “So after 1 June. And that will then be an option for Jakarta residents where the main Car Free Day is not only Sudirman-Thamrin but also Rasuna Said. Because Rasuna Said is hopefully completed in early June, to be inaugurated on 22 June on Jakarta’s anniversary,” he said. Before being officially implemented, the DKI Provincial Government will conduct a trial of the CFD at 05:30 WIB in Rasuna Said on 10 May 2026. That activity will also be accompanied by the launch of a household waste sorting programme.
