Friendly nations' ambassadors hope for stronger ties with Indonesia
A number of diplomats from friendly nations conveyed congratulations on the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence while expressing hopes that bilateral relations with Indonesia will grow stronger.
In a statement from the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta on Monday, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia Myochin Mitsuru said relations between Indonesia and Japan have been closely intertwined in various fields.
“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on the commemoration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day. Indonesia and Japan have long maintained very close relations and bonds, whether historically, economically, or politically. Therefore, I would like to reaffirm our strong hope to further strengthen relations between our two countries,” he said.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri also conveyed congratulations from the government and people of Pakistan to Indonesia.
According to Zahid, Indonesia is an important country for Pakistan and the relationship between the two nations is based not only on friendship but also on closeness as brotherly countries.
“In my view, Indonesia has shown remarkable progress, both in terms of social and economic development. I would like to particularly highlight the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. I am very impressed with his vision to advance the economy and, most importantly, to ensure the welfare of his people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy said Indonesia’s independence commemoration holds special significance for his country because Egypt has a long history of supporting Indonesian independence.
“We are very proud to have been the first country to recognise Indonesia’s independence in 1945. Over that period, we have achieved much progress together with Indonesia in various fields and sectors, including politics, economy, culture, and development. Today, we continue to push relations between the two countries towards new horizons,” he said.
Yasser said relations between Indonesia and Egypt continue to develop in various fields and expressed hope that both countries will further strengthen cooperation in the future.
The Netherlands’ Ambassador to Indonesia Marc Gerritsen also conveyed congratulations and assessed Indonesia’s 81-year journey as an achievement worthy of appreciation.
Marc also affirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to continue being a partner and friend of Indonesia.
“Indonesia, you are a great country, and with 81 years of experience, you have a brilliant future ahead. As the Netherlands, we stand with you to realise your dreams. Happy Independence Day,” he said.
The diplomats’ statements were delivered following the 81st Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
