Friendly Nations' Ambassadors Extend Congratulations on Indonesia's 81st Independence Anniversary
A number of diplomatic representatives from friendly nations attended the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia ceremony at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (17/8). On the occasion, the ambassadors expressed deep appreciation for the Indonesian nation’s journey as well as optimism regarding the strengthening of bilateral relations.
Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, Myochin Mitsuru, highlighted the historical, economic, and political ties that have long been established between the two countries. He expressed hope that Indonesia-Japan cooperation would grow even closer in the future. “I would like to reaffirm our strong hope to strengthen relations between our two countries,” said Myochin.
Similar appreciation came from Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri. In addition to conveying greetings from the government and people of Pakistan, Zahid specifically praised the leadership direction of President Prabowo Subianto, which is considered focused on economic growth and people’s welfare.
“Indonesia has shown remarkable progress, both in terms of social and economic development. I am very impressed with President Prabowo’s vision to advance the economy and ensure the welfare of his people,” said Zahid.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy recalled the historical memory of Egypt being the first country to recognise Indonesia’s independence in 1945. He assessed that Indonesia has achieved significant progress over the past eight decades, particularly in maintaining social harmony and cultural heritage.
“One of the beautiful things about Indonesia is the harmony among its people and its culture, how Indonesians respect their history and cultural heritage,” said Yasser.
The Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia, Marc Gerritsen, also extended congratulations and affirmed his country’s readiness to continue accompanying Indonesia in realising the nation’s dreams in the future. He described Indonesia as a great country with a brilliant future.
The presence of these foreign diplomats underscores Indonesia’s strategic position on the international stage as well as the world’s recognition of the stability and progress of national development achieved up to its 81st year.
