Friderica Widyasari Dewi, acting chair of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) board of commissioners, underwent a fit and proper test before Commission XI of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, as a candidate to replace a departing OJK board member. The assessment commenced at approximately 10:10 and concluded at 10:45 West Indonesia Time.

In her presentation, Friderica emphasised her conviction that the financial services sector plays a strategic role in maintaining national economic stability. “Therefore, OJK’s future leadership must be able to ensure that the financial services sector remains stable, credible, and provides tangible contributions to the national economy,” she stated at the DPR complex.

Friderica highlighted the global, domestic, and internal challenges facing the financial services sector. Regarding domestic challenges, she addressed the declining public confidence in the financial services sector resulting from developments in the capital market.

Friderica proposed eight priority policies to strengthen the financial services sector: maintaining financial stability, restoring public confidence, promoting the financial services sector’s contribution to national economic development, strengthening integrated supervision, accelerating market deepening, protecting consumers and society, strengthening OJK’s institutional and internal capacity, and reinforcing cooperation with ministries, other agencies, and stakeholders.

Prior to her appointment as acting chief, Friderica served as head of the Conduct Supervision of Financial Services Business Operators, Education and Consumer Protection division at OJK. She was appointed to the acting position following the resignation of four OJK officials on 30 January. Friderica’s name features among the 20 candidates for the OJK board member position who passed the administrative selection by the selection committee.

The fit and proper test follows up on a letter sent by President Prabowo Subianto to the DPR leadership on Monday, 9 March 2026. Commission XI chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun stated that the DPR would select a candidate capable of balancing pro-market policies with prudence in market risk mitigation.

“That is what we are looking for—someone pro-market but also aware of where the market should be regulated, and at what point state interests take precedence. That is the most important thing. We are seeking someone who understands the regulator concept at commissioner level. That is what we seek,” Misbakhun said at the DPR complex on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, according to Antara news agency.

A total of ten candidates for OJK board positions underwent the fit and proper test. Besides Friderica, the other candidates were Agus Sugiarto, Hernawan Bekti Sasongko, Ary Zulfikar, Hasan Fawzi, Darmansyah, Dicky Kartikoyono, Danu Febrianto, Adi Budiarso, and Anton Daryono.
