Friday Work From Home: Customs Ensures Optimal Public Services
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The implementation of a flexible work system or Work From Home (WFH) for Customs employees on Fridays is assured not to disrupt customs and excise services to the public. This policy is instead designed to improve work effectiveness without reducing the quality of public services. The policy refers to Ministry of Finance Circular Number 2/MK/SJ/2026 on Guidelines for Flexible Work Systems and Efficiency in Performing Civil Service Duties within the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Finance. Under these regulations, agencies are given leeway to apply adaptive work patterns, including WFH, while prioritising performance and services. Although some employees carry out duties from home every Friday, work units with operational and direct service functions will still arrange employee attendance. This step ensures that all service processes, both at service offices and in the field, continue to run normally without hindrance. Head of the Customs Public Relations and Outreach Subdirectorate, Budi Prasetiyo, emphasised that the public need not worry about the change in work patterns. “The implementation of WFH on Fridays does not reduce the quality and availability of our services. Work units continue to allocate employee assignments proportionally, so services and supervision remain optimal,” said Budi. In addition to face-to-face services at offices, Customs is also optimising remote service channels. The public and service users can utilise the Bravo Customs service at 1500225 as well as various communication channels through official social media that remain active in serving at all times. According to Budi, strengthening digital services is one of the keys to maintaining service quality amid the implementation of flexible work systems. “We ensure that all service channels remain responsive, so that the public’s needs for information or consultation can be met quickly and accurately,” said Budi. With adaptive work arrangements and information technology support, Customs reaffirms its commitment to continue providing the best services. The implementation of WFH will be part of a work transformation that is increasingly modern, efficient, and still oriented towards public interests.
