Friday prayers with quake-affected residents, Gibran prays for NTT's recovery

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka performed Friday prayers together with residents affected by the earthquake at Nurul Huda Mosque in Reo Village, Reok District, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Friday.

According to a statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta, Gibran joined the community in offering prayers for the safety of residents and for the smooth handling and post-disaster recovery in NTT.

The Vice President prayed that the affected communities would be given strength in facing this difficult situation. He also prayed that every effort in emergency response, meeting the needs of the community, and the recovery process would proceed well and smoothly.

The Vice President’s presence in NTT, particularly in Manggarai, served as a manifestation of the state’s presence amid a disaster situation. Ensuring public safety is the responsibility of the state, and meeting the needs of affected residents is a priority.

Ustadz Syamsuddin acted as the imam for the Friday prayers, while Ustadz Muh. Hasrimuddin served as the khatib. The sermon’s theme was ‘Becoming a Pious Person Amid the Trials of the Ruler of the Universe, Allah SWT’.

Before performing the Friday prayers, Gibran inspected the disaster site in Waso Village, North Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai Regency.

There, he observed first-hand the condition of the community and the impact caused by the earthquake that struck several days earlier.

In addition, Gibran also inspected the Golo Cenggo evacuation post and stopped at Reo Community Health Centre in Reok District, Manggarai Regency, to ensure that health services continued to operate and that the needs of affected residents remained a priority.

After the Friday prayers, the Vice President took time to greet and engage in dialogue with residents around the mosque and inspected damaged houses.

He assured that the government would continue to carry out its responsibilities in handling the emergency response period through to recovery.

The Vice President’s visit sent a message that communities are not facing the impact of the disaster alone. The state is present to protect and ensure that the recovery process runs optimally until residents can resume their normal activities.
