Fresh quake rocks Dili
DILI, East Timor: Another earthquake measuring between four and five on the Richter scale jolted the town on Tuesday at 11.25 p.m.
There was no word on casualties or damages. On Sunday a quake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale triggered tidal waves and claimed five lives in Dili and the nearby Ermera regency. Nine people are still reported missing.
"Aftershocks are usually milder than the first quake but residents should remain alert for stronger tremors," said chief of the meteorology and geophysics office in Dili M. Muchsin.
Antara reported yesterday that many residents, especially those with small children, have chosen to remain outdoors for fear of another major quake. (pan)
