Frequent Flooding Prompts Drainage Normalisation on Three Bogor City Road Sections
The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) prioritises three road sections for drain normalisation: Jalan Dadali, Jalan Padi, and Jalan Yasmin Sector V. The priority areas were identified through mapping of high-intensity rainfall events. “There are three direct points: first on Jalan Padi, second on Jalan Dadali, and another in Yasmin Sector 5. The wall collapsed there yesterday. Those are the three for now,” said Dedie at Jalan Padi, Bogor, on Monday, 1 June 2026. He stated that a solution for the Jalan Padi issue has been identified: drain normalisation. “This is at Jalan Padi. The same applies here. It’s not just a few times; every time it rains, the water accumulates above ankle height,” he added. “That’s why I’m showing this here—it’s been years without a solution. Today, we’re addressing it. Today, we’re fixing it.” The road, he added, is next to the Jagorawi Toll Road with small pipes directing towards the toll road. He added that the small pipes cannot be excavated as it falls outside Bogor City Government’s jurisdiction. Thus, the city government has created a diversion channel directing water flow to the nearest river. “We saw why the pipes towards the toll road are small. Can we demolish the toll road? Impossible. So we’re creating a diversion, directing it straight to the nearest river. That’s the steps we’re taking,” he said. It is known that a victim fell into a drain on Jalan Dadali and was found dead in the Grogol area. The drain normalisation is being carried out in the area of ornamental plant traders. According to Dedie, a pile of waste under the stalls of ornamental plant traders was blocking the drain flow.
