French warship docks in Surabaya

SURABAYA: A French warship, the Aliendien, docked on Monday at
Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya here, as part of military
exercises between Indonesia and France, slated to begin off the
coast of Madura island later this week.

C.A. Wilmot Roussel, France's Navy Commander for the Indian
Ocean, said that the naval exercises would include two ships, the
Aliendien and a corvette ship belonging to the Indonesian Navy.

Meanwhile, the warship's captain, Herve Boy, said that the
Aliendien had 45 crewmembers.

One of the exercises would be refueling while at sea, said
Wilmot, during a press conference held aboard the Aliendien. --
