French tourists overtake Indian arrivals in Bali for August 2026
The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Bali has recorded a significant surge in visits from French international tourists, which successfully overtook Indian arrivals on a monthly basis in August 2026.
“France increased by 20.42 per cent with 41,937 visits,” stated the Head of BPS Bali, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan, in Denpasar on Thursday.
According to Agus Gede, this surge, which altered the top three rankings of highest visiting countries, was driven by the summer holidays in Europe caused by extreme heat conditions, leading many French citizens to choose Bali for their holidays.
On a monthly basis, Australia still holds the first rank for the highest number of visits, contributing 161,258 visits or 23.51 per cent of the total international tourists, despite experiencing a 7.61 per cent decrease due to the end of the school holiday period.
BPS Bali data shows that the top five rankings contributed significantly, as they accounted for almost half of the total international tourists visiting Bali in August 2026.
This positive trend from these countries is also reflected overall in the movement of visits based on the region of origin of the international tourists.
According to BPS Bali records, the European region as a whole recorded the highest increase of 4.92 per cent, reaching a total of 220,047 visits.
