French High-Profile Fugitive Adrien Schneider Arrested in Indonesia, Deported
French high-profile fugitive Adrien Schneider has been arrested in Jakarta. Schneider was one of the most wanted fugitives for murder and a series of other crimes in his home country. He was arrested on Monday (3/8) in the Jakarta area and handed himself over accompanied by the French Police Attaché.
The Indonesian National Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) Interpol Secretariat coordinated with the Directorate General of Immigration for the deportation process. Schneider’s repatriation was carried out by Transnational Crime Division personnel and Immigration officers at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on Tuesday (4/8). The deportation process proceeded smoothly. Upon arrival in Istanbul, Schneider was immediately handed over and escorted under tight security by the French Police Attaché for a flight back to Paris.
“This deportation step is a manifestation of absolute commitment and strong collaboration between the Indonesian National Police, the Directorate General of Immigration, and international law enforcement authorities. We ensure that Indonesia’s jurisdiction will never become a place of escape or refuge for perpetrators of serious transnational crimes,” said the Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia, Brigadier General Pol Dani Hamdani, in a statement on Wednesday (5/8/2026).
Schneider was an Interpol fugitive with Red Notice status who was previously detected in Bali and Sumbawa. According to the Red Notice document, Adrien Schneider is accused of involvement in a series of serious crimes in Tremblay-en-France on 21 September 2024. The criminal offences he is charged with include premeditated murder as part of an organised group, as well as the acquisition, possession, and transportation of Category B firearms and their ammunition without legal authorisation. For these violations of the Penal Code and the French Internal Security Code, the suspect faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
