Freight vehicles restricted from entering Jakarta toll roads from 13 March 2026
Operational restrictions on freight vehicle access commence on Friday, 13 March 2026, from 12:00 until Sunday, 29 March 2026, at 24:00, according to Yayat Sudrajat, Head of Traffic and Road Transport Operational Control at Jakarta’s Transportation Agency.
Speaking at a briefing on preparations for the 2026 Eid transportation period in Jakarta, Sudrajat outlined the urgency of implementing freight vehicle restrictions to reduce potential congestion on toll roads during the exodus and return periods.
He explained that freight vehicles operate at relatively lower speeds compared to other vehicles. “If freight vehicles enter the toll road and coincide with the exodus traffic, congestion is certain to occur due to the slower speeds of freight vehicles operating on toll roads,” he stated.
The toll road sections in Jakarta subject to freight vehicle restrictions include Professor Dr Ir Sedyatmo, Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR), and routes within Jakarta.
However, the restrictions contain exemptions for fuel and gas transport vehicles, money deliveries, livestock transport, fertiliser, animal feed, essential goods, free motorcycle shuttles for the exodus and return periods, and natural disaster response vehicles.
In detail, the regulations issued through a joint decision by the Directorate General of Land Transportation, Directorate General of Maritime Transportation, Directorate General of Roads, and the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps apply to toll road sections covering DKI Jakarta-Banten, Jakarta-Tangerang-Merak, Jakarta-Bogor-Ciawi-Cigombong-Cibadak, Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu, and Jakarta-Cikampek routes.
