Freeport Projects Rp47.05 Trillion State Contribution in 2026
PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) projects its contribution to the state could reach US2.6billion, equivalenttoRp47.05trillion(assuminganexchangerateofRp18, 099perUS), in 2026. This figure is an accumulation of tax payments, royalties, and company dividends. PTFI President Director Tony Wenas explained that this year’s contribution figure has been adjusted compared to the previous year’s realisation of US$4.3 billion, equivalent to Rp77.87 trillion. This is partly due to production at the Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) mine still being in the recovery phase following a landslide incident in September 2025. “If we look at 2026, state revenues consisting of taxes, dividends, and royalties have indeed decreased to US$2.6 billion from last year’s US$4.3 billion, and within this there will still be a dividend of US$1.1 billion to be received by the government through MIND ID,” he stated during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Freeport confirmed the company will still provide a dividend of US$1.1 billion, equivalent to Rp19.91 trillion, channelled through the State-Owned Mining Industry Holding, MIND ID. This financial projection was prepared using an assumed copper price of US$6 per pound and a gold price of US$4,500 per ounce. “If we look at the projection for 2027, in line with our production increase, state revenues could reach US$4.7 billion, of which US$800 million is non-tax state revenue including royalties, then taxes including corporate income tax of US$1.9 billion, and also a dividend of US$1.9 billion for the government through MIND ID,” he explained. The state contribution is predicted to increase gradually as the company’s mine production capacity returns to normal levels by the end of 2027. By 2030, the company’s contribution to the state is calculated to reach US$7 billion, equivalent to Rp120 trillion. “And we see that once full production capacity is reached, state revenues could exceed US$7 billion per year. So if we convert that to rupiah, it is approximately Rp120 trillion per year, and so on in the years to come,” he concluded.
