Freeport Indonesia strengthens industrial relations through 24th Collective Work Agreement
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Freeport Indonesia is strengthening the company’s industrial relations with workers through the 24th Collective Work Agreement (PKB) for the period 2026–2028, which was signed in Jakarta on Friday.
President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, stated that the process of drafting and reaching agreement on the PKB was conducted upholding family values.
“Of course, we did it in a very familial manner so that an agreement was reached that reflects our mutual sense of family,” said Tony.
The agreements reached in the 24th PKB include provisions on income increases, allowances, and work safety and death insurance.
“There is also an old-age allowance of Rp2 million for all employees per month, and insurance allowance for work accidents resulting in death, which increases from US$50,000 to US$75,000,” he added.
On the other hand, Labour Minister Yassierli, who witnessed the signing of the PKB, stated that agreements between companies and workers are very necessary.
He also appreciated PT Freeport Indonesia’s consistency with the PKB over the 48 years since the company’s establishment.
Labour Minister Yassierli views the PKB as a joint guideline that clarifies the rights and obligations of the parties, while also serving as a reference for building dialogue and certainty in employment relations.
“Regarding the challenges ahead, the only solution is for worker unions, labour unions, and management to synergise and collaborate to realise transformative industrial relations in the future,” he said.
