Freeport has new chief

JAKARTA (JP): Copper mining giant PT Freeport Indonesia has a
new chief.

Adrianto Machribie, Freeport's former executive vice
president, becomes the company's president, replacing Hoediatmo
Hoed, who joins the board of commissioners.

Adrianto was reported as saying that the changes at Freeport
have nothing to do with the recent riots in the company's
township of Timika, Irian Jaya, as they were planned last year.
